Dhara Amin, a Wilder School doctoral candidate, has received a prestigious research grant from the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) for her dissertation project, “Students’ Awareness, Knowledge, and Perceptions of Mandatory Reporting of Sexual Victimization on College Campuses.”
ATIXA announced the grant at its recent annual conference, held in Philadelphia. Annual grants are given to those creating new and innovative research in the field of Title IX compliance and best practices. ATIXA encourages academic research and scholarship regarding sexual assault prevention, investigation, coordination, and administration at two- and four-year colleges and universities.
“This is a prestigious honor, and I know from experience that ATIXA grants are very competitive,” said Sarah Jane Brubaker, Ph.D., associate professor and director of the Wilder School’s certificate in gender violence intervention. “We are extremely proud of Dhara, and the research grant speaks to the quality of her work.”
Amin, who earned her master’s in criminal justice from the Wilder School in 2014, was also a Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellow at the Virginia Department of Correction. She is currently working as a research analyst in the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice.
"I am so honored to have been selected as a recipient of this grant," Amin said. "This was my first grant application ever submitted, and this support will allow me to conduct critical research for my dissertation."
