By Pamela Stallsmith
The Wilder School’s Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness program has been ranked the 10th best online master’s in emergency management program in the nation by bestcolleges.com
Launched as the nation’s first homeland security and emergency preparedness program in 2005, the curriculum prepares students to manage the complexities of disaster planning and response.
“We are proud to be recognized as a top online graduate degree,” said William V. Pelfrey Jr., chair of the Wilder School’s Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness program. “High quality faculty, engaged and diverse students, and strong connections to agencies combine to produce a tremendous learning experience.”
Bestcolleges.com wrote of the Wilder School’s program, “Students benefit from faculty members with expertise in various disciplines. The interdisciplinary program develops the skills needed to become a leader in homeland security and emergency preparedness. Topics such as survey on terrorism explore the political aspects of terrorism and how it affects globalization.
“The 36-hour distance education program is fully online—students can complete the degree from anywhere in the world. Courses address the most pressing topics in the field, including Cybersecurity, Terrorism, Intelligence, Emergency Management, Public Health, Constitutional Issues, and others.”
This is the most recent national ranking of a Wilder School program. In March, the Wilder School moved up 12 places to No. 44 for best graduate public affairs program in the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings.
