Pitt to moderate at clean energy dialogue
Join VCU Wilder School faculty and students for the “VA Power Dialog: A Conversation on Clean Energy,” on Friday, April 8. The one-day symposium will engage college students from across the commonwealth in meaningful discussion with state regulators, officials and peers on how Virginia can help meet the U.S. climate commitment of 30% cuts in global warming emissions by 2030. The event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required.
The “VA Power Dialog,” is the result of a collaborative initiative between twelve colleges and universities. Virginia Commonwealth University will host the first half of the event which will be held in the University Student Commons from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Participants will adjourn to the University of Richmond for lunch and afternoon sessions, which will conclude with an interactive poster session and tabling.
Damian Pitt, an Assistant Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the VCU Wilder School, will moderate the morning discussion which will include an overview of the Clean Power Plan presented by Will Cleveland from the Southern Environmental Law Center. Other panelists include Dawone Robinson, Virginia Policy Director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and Katharine Bond, Director of Public Policy for Dominion Power.
