Student projects

Students in the MURP program complete a number of client-based projects that prepare them for work in the planning field. These projects enable students to develop strong portfolios that help them secure planning-related jobs quickly.

In addition to putting into practice the research and technical urban planning knowledge learned in courses, the client-based projects and studios also introduce students to important soft skills that make them confident and competitive in the job market. Students gain experience with facilitating community meetings or design charrettes, navigating a professional client-consultant relationship, and learning to communicate clearly through public speaking and writing.
