Gough Chosen as 2017-2018 Provost Office Faculty Fellow

Meghan Gough, Ph.D., chair of the Wilder School’s Urban and Regional Studies and Planning program, has been selected to receive a 2017-2018 Provost Office Faculty Fellowship for Community Engagement.

The fellowship, a competitive university program sponsored by the Provost’s Office, is designed to enhance the leadership potential of outstanding faculty members to support the community engagement mission of the university.

“Community engagement is a core value and practice of the Wilder School, and Dr. Gough is a leader and role model in this area,” said Wilder School Dean John Accordino, Ph.D., FAICP. “We're proud of her work and grateful for her selection as a Provost Office Faculty Fellow for Community Engagement.”

During her appointment, Gough will collaborate with the Provost's Office on ways to deepen community engaged scholarship initiatives across the university.

“We will be envisioning the ‘engaged campus’ of the 21st century and what this should look like at VCU,” Gough said. “As part of this effort, we will formulate guidance documents to assist academic leaders and department heads about newer forms of engaged scholarship and metrics to evaluate this scholarship.

“We will also focus on designing mentorship programs to support early career faculty that identify as community engaged scholars, informing successful paths toward promotion and tenure.”
