Join the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs for a Lunch and Learn Zoom presentation featuring Stephen Moret, Ed.D., president and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. He will discuss the impact of current challenges on economic development in Virginia, including in local business communities, as well as unemployment rates and economic stability throughout the region.

Wilder School Dean Susan Gooden, Ph.D., will make opening remarks; Elsie Harper-Anderson, Ph.D., associate professor of urban and regional planning and director of the Ph.D. program in public policy and administration, will moderate. Be ready to ask questions during the Q&A portion of the event; the session will be recorded and shared later through email and the Wilder School YouTube channel.

About the Speaker

Stephen Moret has been the president and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership since January 2017. At VEDP, he has collaborated with state, regional and local partners on transformational goals, including accelerating employment growth, enabling every region to grow and returning Virginia to the top of national business climate rankings. He led Virginia’s successful bid for Amazon’s HQ2, designed Virginia’s $1.1 billion Tech Talent Investment Program and has launched a world-class, custom workforce initiative, the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program. Moret earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania, where his research focused on linkages between higher education and the labor market.
