Virginians See Schools as Safe, Look Increasingly to Mental Health Approaches to School Safety

Six months after a shooting rampage left 17 dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, a new statewide poll by the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University finds that Virginians increasingly see mental health approaches as important for school safety.

Scarbrough and Wallace to be Honored at Alumni Volunteer Service Awards

VCU Alumni will recognize two Wilder School graduates—Sarah Huggins Scarbrough and Franklin Wallace—during the university’s Biennial Alumni Volunteer Service Awards this week. The awards, which will be presented during a private dinner and ceremony on Oct. 19, celebrate alumni who have worked with particular devotion to serve the VCU community.
